The all-new, contemporary mid-sized SUV boasts attention-grabbing design with integrated driver-focused technologies and next-level functionality.

“Chevrolet has been at the forefront of each of the major automotive industry trends by anticipating consumer demand and delivering innovative products like Bolt EV, Colorado, and Trax,” says Alan Batey, president of GM North America and head of Global Chevrolet. “The introduction of the all-new Blazer builds on that momentum and further strengthens the most comprehensive lineup of crossovers and SUVs on the market today.”

The 2019 Chevy Blazer will offer unique design elements on each model, appealing to drivers seeking a distinctive appearance and outstanding utility.

DESIGN

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is the automaker's boldest, most progressive iteration of their crossover design theme. A wide stance, tight proportions, high beltline, and dramatic sculpting give it a toned, athletic appearance at all points.

“The Blazer has attitude,” says John Cafaro, executive director, Global Chevrolet Design. “It looks commanding on the road while fulfilling the promise of versatility at the heart of every Chevy crossover and SUV.

Each model in the lineup offers distinctive design options to suit a wide array of customer tastes such as unique grille appearances, additional bright chrome on the Premier trim, and a more sinister-looking, blacked-out design for the Blazer RS. However, a powerful front end featuring a strong grille, athletic hood lines, and low-placed HID headlamps distinguishes all models. Additionally, the 2019 Blazer also features a distinctive lighting execution that separates the headlamps and LED daytime running lamps.

The 2019 Chevy Blazer also offers a brand-first Cargo Management System, standard on RS and Premier models, which features a rail system and cargo fence to help secure smaller items by dividing the cargo area.

TECHNOLOGY AND CONNECTIVITY

The 2019 Blazer packs a full suite of seamless connectivity, intuitive controls, and driver convenience features including:

  • Hitch Guidance that aids in aligning the Blazer’s hitch to a trailer by showing the center line on the rear-vision camera. This is available on models with a 3.6L engine.
  • Hitch View which complements Hitch Guidance by showing a top-down view, making it easier to hitch a trailer without a second person to assist. This is an available feature.
  • Electronic-locking glove box that offers added storage security, and is roomy enough to fit a small handbag. The glove box is locked with the vehicle’s Valet Mode, which is accessible through the Settings menu.
  • Automatic heated steering wheel and automatic heated/ventilated front seats that work with Remote Start and/or automatic climate control to automatically adjust the temperature to help maintain comfort.
  • Comfort-open windows that are activated by the key fob and allow all windows to roll down to help heat escape before occupants enter the vehicle.
  • Heated outboard rear seats are available on RS and standard on Premier.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control and Rear Camera Mirror are available on RS and Premier.
  • Hands-free power liftgate with Bowtie logo projection is standard on RS and Premier.
  • Wireless charging and six USB ports are available.
Additionally, an 8-inch diagonal-color touchscreen running Chevrolet Infotainment 3 comes standard on the 2019 Blazer, along with 4G LTE Wi-Fi (with 1-month/3GB data trial) and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

PERFORMANCE AND CAPABILITY

The all-new 2019 Chevy Blazer is powered by a standard 2.5L I-4 engine rated at 193hp and 188 lb. ft. of torque. A 3.6L V-6 is also available, offering 305hp and 269 lb. ft. of torque.

Both engines are direct-injected and feature intelligent stop/start technology that smoothly shuts off the engine when power is not needed, and are both paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

“The Chevrolet Blazer is more than just good looks,” says Waqar Hashim, Blazer chief engineer. “Both the Ecotec 2.5L four-cylinder engine and 3.6L V-6 engine are paired to Chevrolet’s nine-speed automatic transmission, providing drivers a great balance between performance and efficiency.”

Also standard on all models is Traction Select which allows the driver to make real-time adjustments to the vehicle's driving mode to account for varying road conditions. On AWD models, it also allows the system to be completely disconnected from the rear axle, meaning that drivers can choose to operate the 2019 Blazer in FWD when AWD is not needed.

The all-new Chevrolet Blazer will hit dealerships in early 2019, and additional details and pricing will be announced closer to launch.

Chevy and Shell Introduce Fuel Payment Option from the Driver's Seat

Chevy and Shell Introduce Fuel Payment Option from the Driver's Seat

BAY CITY, Mich. -- Chevrolet and Shell have partnered up to introduce the industry-first, embedded in-dash fuel payment system. This system will offer owners of eligible Chevy vehicles the option to pay for gas directly from their vehicle's touchscreen at participating Shell gas stations, all without swiping a credit card or using a mobile device.

Embedded in-dash fueling is powered by Marketplace, the automotive industry's first commerce platform for on-demand reservations and purchases of goods and services. In addition to allowing users to now find and pay for fuel at participating Shell gas stations, Marketplace's additional capabilities include ordering food, making dinner reservations, and finding parking or hotels; all from the comfort of the driver's seat.

“We introduced Marketplace to deliver value, productivity, and convenience to our customers,” says Rick Ruskin, senior manager, Online Commerce, Chevrolet. “Bringing the Shell Pay & Save functionality right on the touchscreen of our vehicles is the latest advancement of this platform, allowing drivers to simply access Fuel Rewards and pay for gas while inside their car.”

Additionally, Shell allows Marketplace users ease of navigation to the nearest Shell station, as well as all the perks that come with the FuelRewards program. With the rollout of in-dash fuel payment to the nation's largest branded fueling network, Chevy drivers will be able to pay and save on gas right in their vehicles.

“Being the first to deliver this type of in-dash fuel payment and savings is very exciting,” says Sydney Kimball, vice president, Fuel Sales and Marketing Americas for Shell Oil Products U.S. “At Shell we are constantly working to develop better products and services for our customers, and we are always evolving according to their transforming needs and expectations around convenience, quality, digitalization, and service. We’re thrilled to be working with Chevrolet to make this a reality.”

In-dash payment and savings at Shell-branded stations is currently available in select markets, with nationwide rollout planned throughout the coming months. Marketplace is available in eligible 2017MY and newer Chevrolet vehicles in the U.S.

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

BAY CITY, Mich. -- In the words of Alice Cooper, "school's out for summer!". We're guessing he was only that excited about it because he wasn't a parent yet. While it's certainly great to have the kids back home for summer vacation, it can get stressful, especially given the energy level of young children. With older kids, you run the risk of worrying yourself to death about what they're up to when they're out and about with their friends.

Never fear, moms and dads. Graff Bay City is here with some tips to stay calm as you brave these next 104 days. We give you our Summer Vacation Survival Guide!

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

1. ESTABLISH CHECK-IN TIMES

If you have a teenager, chances are most of their summer vacation will be spent living it up with friends. Nevertheless, you're prone to worrying. The good news is, like most kids, they're probably attached at the hip to their phone. Establish times they need to send you a quick text to let you know where they are, what they're doing, and who they're with before they leave the house. This is a good way to maintain your sanity, while also reinforcing responsibility on their part and not seeming overbearing on yours!

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

2. RESTOCK YOUR HOME FIRST AID KIT

While we hope you never have to use it, a home first aid kit offers peace of mind on top of a means to take care of those scrapes and cuts that come with summer playtimes. In order for it to do its job, you need to make sure it's properly stocked. Your standard bandages, antibiotic ointment, and instant ice packs are all great for parents. Additionally, you can assemble an "on-the-go" first aid kit for trips to the park or beach.

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

3. HANDLING SIBLING FIGHTS

If you're the parent of siblings, you're no stranger to bickering. During summer vacation, sibling fights can become more common due to being in the same space more often. One way to combat this is to have each child play by themselves for about a half hour a day, this will make them appreciate each other's company when they're together, and be sure to praise them for not fighting. If your kids are older, leave them to it unless they're in danger of doing serious harm, as one of the main reasons siblings argue is to get a parent's attention.

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

4. HANDLING BOREDOM

Kids are so used to having their days structured for them, which is why the freedom of summer vacation is so appealing. Like most novel things, however, the excitement quickly wears off, and they're left without a clue of what to do with themselves. Try as you might, anything you suggest is met with "I'm bored" five minutes later.

Here's a solution to both quell the complaints, as well as encourage kids to think for themselves: the boredom jar. Write a bunch of activities on slips of paper, then put them in a jar. The next time you hear "I'm bored," direct them to the jar and have them select an activity slip at random. You could even let them submit their own suggestions to the jar (per your safety review, of course).

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

5. HELP THEM FIND A PART-TIME JOB

For parents of teens, helping them find a part-time job over the summer can be very rewarding. Not only will it help instill a sense of maturity, but it will also serve as a source of independence and pride for them as they'll be earning their own money to spend on activities with friends and things they want.

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

6. FAMILY ROAD TRIPS

If a road trip is on the summer vacation agenda, things can get ugly very quickly when kids are stuck in the car for long hours. Make sure to pack headphones and entertainment devices (make sure the latter are charged. Portable powerbanks are life-savers).  You could also play group games to pass the time like "I Spy" or "Alphabet". At some point, however, you'll probably hear it: "Are we there yet?" Turn this into a challenge. Bring along a bag full of their favorite treats. Each time they ask, eat a piece from the bag and tell them they only get what's left when you've reached your destination.

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

7. PLAY-DATES

Get together with your other parent friends, schedule playdates, and have them take the kids off your hands for an afternoon. In exchange, do the same for them. This will give you some well-deserved "me-time" to unwind, while also satisfying your kids' thirst for activity.

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

8. TANTRUMS

Parents are all too familiar with temper tantrums, but the thing about summer is that your child's teacher isn't there to share them with you! Summer vacation means you the parent are in the direct line of fire for any and all bouts of cantankerousness from your kid, and sometimes not in the most convenient of places. Don't give in to their demands, and don't make it worse by losing your own temper and yelling at them. Instead, check out these 50 Calm Down Tips to try!

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

9. CHORES = FUN

With everyone being home more often during the summer, housework starts to pile up. Get the kids involved by having them perform one age-appropriate task a day, and have a reward attached to it that they can "cash-in" once it's completed. For example: taking out the trash = 5 hours of Xbox time, or doing the dishes = a trip to the ice cream shop, etc.

Summer Vacation Survival Guide for Parents

10. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CHILDCARE

This is especially important for working parents. Don't be afraid to take advantage of child care services like day care, summer camp, or even vacation bible school. There are tons of great, state-certified childcare facilities in Michigan, and many of them will work with you if you're on a budget!

Overall, summer vacation is supposed to be a fun break for kids and parents alike. Sometimes it can get stressful, but we hope you've found something in our survival guide to help you through it! Good luck this summer, parents! And may the odds be ever in your favor!

Chevy News: Indianapolis 500 Winner and New Vehicle Packages, Options Announced

BAY CITY, Mich. – Chevy has been in the news a lot recently, as they continue to have a successful 2018. On top of rolling out new information on the 2019 Silverado 1500 and 2019 Suburban, Chevy was proud to have two of their vehicles place 1st and 2nd in the recent Indianapolis 500. Now is an exciting time to be a Chevy driver, so read below for more updates on your favorite Detroit motor-brand!

The most exciting Chevrolet news revolves around the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet Driver Will Power. On May 27th, Power claimed victory at the 102 Indianapolis 500 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His Chevy victory news came as he won a 3.1589 victory over Ed Carpenter, a pole sitter.

“I can’t describe it,” Power stated. “I feel like collapsing. I want to cry. I was wondering if I would ever win it and thoughts went through my mind during the month. This was the last box to tick, but I’m done.”

This Chevrolet news of triumph dates back to the days of Rick Mears, who won the pole for Team Penske during 1988. Power is the first Australian to win the Indy 500 and to gain victory on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval and the 2,439-mile, 14-turn road, which uses sections of the 2.5-mile oval to complete the sweep.

2019 Suburban RST Performance Package Announced

2019 suburban

While Power’s victory is hitting the top of the Chevy news everywhere, what is just as exciting is the announcement of the new 2019 Suburban RST Performance Package. The new 2019 Suburban RST will sport a 420 hp, 6.2L V-8 engine, a modern Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission, and Magnetic Ride Control with performance calibration.

This marks the first time Suburban will offer the 6.2L V-8, which has 460 lb-ft of torque and 420 horsepower.

“The RST Performance Package made its debut on the Tahoe RST last spring, and the response from our customers was overwhelmingly positive,” Chevy Trucks Marketing and Advertising Director Sandor Piszar stated. “In fact, Tahoe RST with the Performance Package is the fastest-turning Tahoe model, and we’ve received customer requests to offer the same performance and power to Suburban RST.”

Chevy fans will be excited to hear that the Suburban RST performance accessories include a custom tuned Performance Dual-Side Exit exhaust system and an available Performance front brake upgrade package. The Performance Package is available as an upgrade to the Suburban RST, introduced last year.

2019 Silverado 1500 Engine and Transmission Options Announced

2019 silverado

The announcement of the engine and transmission options for the 2019 Silverado 1500 could not have come sooner for Chevy lovers. With eight different trim levels as paired with six engine and transmission options, they are seeking to serve three different customers: High Value, High Volume, and High Feature. Options for the engine include the 4.3L V-6, 2.7L Turbo, 5.3L V-8, and the Duramax 3.0L inline-six Turbo Diesel. Silverado 1500 Chief Engineer Tim Asoklis said the performance of the different engines and transmissions will benefit from the truck being lighter.

“With less weight and less wind resistance, we improved the driving dynamics without sacrificing fuel efficiently,” Asoklis said. He said the chassis feels more responsive and acceleration is more pronounced. With so many options for your new Chevy ride, Graff Bay City can help take you through all of your different options during your vehicle search. More Chevrolet news will be hitting the wire soon. So stay tuned!

Beyond Best Cars: Chevy Gives Journalistic Opportunities to Students

best carsBAY CITY, Mich. – Chevrolet does more than just create the best cars. It also helps to support students who are seeking careers beyond their university studies. Take the story of six students being chosen from historically black colleges and universities by Chevrolet and the National Newspaper Publishers Association for the 2018 Discover the Unexpected Journalism Fellowship. The winners are Tyvan Banks of Norfolk State University, Diamond Durant of Morgan State University, Daja Henry of Howard University, Denver Lark of North Carolina A&T State University, Natrawn Maxwell of Claflin University and Ida Wilborn of Florida A&M University.

The purpose of the 2018 Discover the Unexpected Journalism Fellowship is to help these Fellows offer up powerful stories from various African-American communities throughout the eight weeks of the summer internship. Each Fellow will receive a $10,000 scholarship and a $5,000 stipend from Chevrolet. In previous years, only certain schools were chosen but during the 2018 year, all schools were included.

"In 2016 Chevrolet launched the DTU fellowship at Howard University and last year added Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College," US Chevrolet Marketing Vice President Paul Edwards said. "This year we want to give every HBCU student with a strong voice the opportunity to report the inspiring stories from around the U.S. as they Find New Roads behind the wheel of the 2018 Equinox."

The Fellows will start with two days of journalism training with Chevrolet and NNPA leadership at General Motors' Global Headquarters before going to start work. They will work at The Washington Informer in Washington, D.C.; The Atlanta Voice in Atlanta, Georgia; The New Journal & Guide in Norfolk, Virginia; and New York Amsterdam News in New York City, New York.

"The NNPA is looking forward to continuing our support of young storytellers to document positive stories in our communities," NNPA President and CEO Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis Jr. stated. "Young journalists have the power to bring about positive change in our communities and this country through their words, so it is vital to include their voices in the conversation."

Along for the journey during the summer, American Hip Hop Artist MC Lyte, who serves as the program's national spokesperson, will talk with the Fellows about creating a unique voice and how to tell a great story. On-Air Correspondent Dana Blair, who is also an entertainment producer and brand ambassador, will serve as a mentor to the Fellows. To follow in Chevrolet's lead, we at Graff Bay City partner with many charitable organizations and fundraising campaigns for those in need in our local community. Additionally, if you are in the market for a new ride, our friendly sales team can help you browse our vehicle inventory to find the perfect car, truck, or SUV to suit your needs.
