Chevy Celebrates Diversity in 2019 Silverado Marketing Campaign

BAY CITY, Mich. -- Able to go from workhorse to weekend warrior and everything in-between, the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 is a veritable cult of personality backed by the beastly strength that made it a legend. How do you promote the strongest, most advanced, and most diverse truck in your line-up? Simple. You create a larger-than-life marketing campaign that reaches virtually everyone, everywhere. And that's exactly what Chevy did.

The marketing and social campaign for the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is the most comprehensive ever devised by the brand - employing an extensive array of traditional, digital, and downright unconventional forms of media; pulling out all the stops to celebrate the truck's mass appeal in both design and engineering, as well as the heritage of expertise that made it what it is today.

“In today’s hyper-connected, always-on society, we knew the all-new Silverado launch campaign needed to be bold, engaging and comprehensive to break through the clutter while staying true to the brand’s values and overall advertising approach,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “Leveraging all the available channels — traditional and new — along with unique partnerships and integrations allows us to reach both traditional truck buyers and potential new customers who may be drawn to the versatility and lifestyle that comes with owning a pickup truck.”

Leading off the campaign is a series of three TV, digital, and cinema spots:

From the rural countryside to the gritty urban metropolis, the 2019 Silverado 1500 is designed and engineered for every facet of America.

"Official Truck of Real People" This spot showcases the versatility of the Silverado, demonstrating its ability to go seamlessly transition from work to play and everything in-between.

"Tailgates"

Like the people who drive it, the Silverado never forgets its roots. This spot highlights the 100 years of renowned dependability and truck expertise that defines its bloodline, punctuated by an industry-first, segment-exclusive up/down power tailgate.

2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 Leads the Competition in Cargo Space

2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 Durabed is the Largest in its Class

BAY CITY, Mich. -- With best-in-class cargo volume, box depth and box length at floor in addition to a segment-leading 12 fixed tie-downs and an exclusive power tailgate, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 features the largest pick-up truck bed on the market.

“The bed is the heart and soul of any pickup, so we made several improvements to the bed of the all-new Silverado to give our customers an even better hauling experience,” said Tim Herrick, executive chief engineer, Full-Size Trucks, General Motors. “We’ve added so many features and benefits that it deserves its own name – Durabed.”

Each Silverado in the 2019 line-up has increased significantly in terms of bed size compared to the 2018 model year:

2018:

Short box: 53 cubic feet
Standard box: 62 cubic feet
Long box: 75 cubic feet

2019:

Short box: 63 cubic feet
Standard box: 72 cubic feet
Long box: 89 cubic feet

The 2019 Silverado short box option is 20% more than the competition, in order to achieve this, Chevy widened the maximum width of the bed floor nearly 10% (7 inches), and implemented this across all bed sizes for the 2019 Silverado.

Additionally, a higher grade steel is being used in the construction of the Durabed for 2019:

BED MATERIAL:

2019 Silverado: High-strength steel (500 MPa)
2019 Ford F-Series: Aluminum
2019 Ram 1500: High-strength steel (340 MPa)

In terms of cargo box space, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado now leads the competition by at least 10 cubic feet. As for cargo box depth and length at floor, the 2019 Silverado now leads between 1-10 inches.

The 2019 Chevy Silverado sports 12 fixed tie-downs and has doubled the strength of each from 250 lbs. to 500 lbs. of force before bending. An additional 9 moveable tie-downs are also available for more cargo flexibility. With 21 tie-down points in all, the 2019 Silverado sports the most of any pick-up truck available.

Chevrolet Unveils the 2019 Silverado 1500 and More at NAIAS

BAY CITY, Mich. –– This past month the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) was held in Detroit with all of the foreign and domestic auto brands unveiling new production and concept vehicle models for 2018 and beyond. Chevrolet, of course, had their own display area in the Cobo Center where the NAIAS was held, with the new 2018 Colorado, Cruze, Camaro, Corvette, and Spark models on display for audiences to see. That's not all they had to offer fans of the bowtie-brand at the auto show, as Chevy formally debuted the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 to the public and had a vehicle testing virtual reality experience. Unveiling the 2019 Chevy Silverado at NAIAS

Chevrolet debuted the latest model of America's most dependable, longest-lasting pickup to the public at NAIAS, the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. This exceptional and well-designed pickup has improved performance and fuel economy with 8 specialized trim levels and six engine/transmission available options, including the all-new Duramax 3.0L inline-six diesel and new 5.3L and 6.2L V-8s with industry-first Dynamic Fuel Management. The new 2019 Silverado is also 450 pounds lighter than previous models for improved handling and has best-in-class cargo volume in every bed length. The 2019 Silverado also promises to come complete with a suite of innovative connectivity, safety, and design features for an incredible driver and passenger experience.

Experience Virtual Reality Vehicle Testing

NAIAS attendees were treated to a 4-D virtual reality unlike any other thanks to Chevy. The Chevrolet Virtual Dynamics Lab used VR headsets and moving seats to simulate experiencing riding in a new 2018 model vehicle as it is put through the rigors of quality testing on gravel roads, extreme temperature labs, and rock climbs. The video simulation even included a portion where you raced around the famed Milford Proving Ground. In addition to their miles and miles of road testing, Chevy also has their sedans, trucks, and SUVs tested in simulation chambers that can create different environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, altitudes, humidity, and wind speeds. The Virtual Dynamics Lab was a fun and engaging way for the public to get a firsthand look at Chevy's commitment to high-intensity quality testing for their vehicles.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Revealed at Chevy Truck Centennial Event

The next generation of America's most dependable, longest-lasting pickup was unveiled the Chevy Truck Centennial event in Texas last month with hundreds of Chevy's Truck Legends program members in attendance. The all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 boasts modern design and incredible power to revolutionize the future of trucks. Chevrolet to Unveil its All-New Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD at The Work Truck Show® 2018

Chevy has now promised to reveal the all-new Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD at The Work Truck Show® 2018, during March 6th - 9th in Indianapolis. These new work trucks will be powered by Duramax diesel engines and Allison transmissions, and available in regular and crew cab models, with 2WD and 4WD capability with a wide range of GVWRs and wheelbases. Additionally, Chevy is expanding their suite of industry-leading driver connectivity and fleet management solutions, including OnStar, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, and a number of telematics offerings to optimize organizational efficiency for companies looking to incorporate these trucks into their work vehicles.
