Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R Makes Racing Debut
BAY CITY, Mich.- A new chapter begins in racing this week as the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R makes its racing debut at the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge in Daytona! Sharing many similar elements with the 2014 Camaro Z/28, the new Z/28.R will be one of the most production based competitors on the track!
This Friday, the Camaro Z/28 will return to its roots as the new Z/28.R debuts in a 2.5-hour endurance race to kick off the 12-race 2014 season. Staying true to their racing roots, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 and Z/28.R were developed alongside eachother, incorporating many of the same performance elements. This resulted in the 2014 Camaro Z/28 being the most track-capable Camaro ever, and the Z/28.R being the closest to a production-spec race car that you will find! Aside from series-mandated equipment needed for endurance racing, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R makes its racing debut with most of the same specifications as the Z/28, like the same downforce-generating aero package and LS7 7.0L V8 engine.
Through hard-fought victories, the original Camaro Z/28 became an iconic performance car, and the production of the Z/28.R stays true to its roots as the new model heads out to kick off a new chapter in racing! 2014 Chevrolet COPO Camaro Program Announced
BAY CITY, Mich.- Last week, Chevy debuted an array of passenger cars turned high-performance concept cars at SEMA 2013, but the automaker really impressed show-goers and Camaro fans all over when they announced the 2014 Chevrolet COPO Camaro Program! In 2014, the COPO Camaro Program will return with limited production of factory-produced race cars for the third year!
Chevrolet announced the 2014 COPO Camaro Program models will feature the same updated styling features as the newest Camaro, including new front and rear fascias. New to the COPO Camaro Program this year will be the two new racing engine choices which make the cars more competitive. The 2014 race cars will also feature new racing seats, updated graphics, and a new wheel design. While looks impress, safety is the most important so each car will be fitted with an NHRA-approved roll cage along with other safety equipment. But most notably, each of the 2014 COPO Camaros will be built by hand!
As in the previous COPO Camaro Programs, only a limited number of the high-performance race cars will be produced for 2014. Specifically, only 69 2014 COPO Camaros will be built for NHRA Stock Eliminator and Super Stock competition. If you've been waiting to get your hands on a COPO Camaro since last year, make sure to get your name on the COPO mailing list at chevroletperformance.com! It's the only way to get one of the new race cars!
For those interested in serial number 1 of the limited 2014 run, it's going to cost you a little bit more! But it's all for a good cause. Serial number 1 of the 2014 COPO Camaro run is set to be auctioned off by Chevrolet Performance at the Barrett-Jackson annual January event. All of the proceeds from the sale of the first 2014 COPO Camaro will benefit the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans!

5 Chevrolet Camaro Secrets
1. When GM was deciding on names, the Camaro was almost called the Panther. In fact, it was referred to as the Chevrolet Panther and Chevy even had the molds made for the Panther emblem! However, GM liked the two names beginning with "C", so the Chevrolet Camaro won.
2. The name "Camaro" actually has no meaning. It's simply a name that was invented and has no actual meaning in any language. Many argue that "Camaro" means "friend" in French, but this is just a myth.
3. The Camaro was actually imported from Canada. Although it's no longer an import, the Camaro was built in St. Therese, Quebec from 1993 until 2002. Hard to believe, eh?
4. Between the years of 1988 and 1991, the most commonly stolen car in the U.S was the 1986 Chevy Camaro. In fact, 1 out of every 5 built in the year 1986 ended up being stolen.
5. The Chevy Camaro has "outpaced" the Ford Mustang. This means that the Camaro has been the official pace car at the Indianapolis 500 six times, while the Mustang has only been the pace car for three. Only the Corvette has paced more 500s than the Camaro, with a record 12 times!

2014 Chevrolet Camaro Spy Shots
BAY CITY, Mich.- We saw the updated 2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS and Z/28 at the New York Auto Show, but what about the rest of the lineup? The latest 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Spy Shots give us a better idea of what to expect for the 1LE, ZL1, and RS models, revealing some updated and some current features.
The 2014 Chevy Camaro 1LE looks like it will keep its current blacked-out hood and matte-black rear spoiler, but will adopt some of the new features that debuted on the Camaro SS like the revised lower front fascia, hood vent, and slim grille. As far as power, we expect the 2014 Camaro 1LE to keep its 426 HP 6.2-liter V8 engine.
The 2014 Chevy Camaro ZL1, however, won't receive the updated front end since Chevrolet felt that changing the front fascia could have caused issues related to the packaging of its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine and would have required too much extra work to improve aerodynamics. But, the 2014 Camaro ZL1 will receive the new CHMSL lights above the license plate area and on top of the trunk lid.
Last but not least, the 2014 Camaro RS prototype loses the SS' hood vent but adds two more exhaust outlets, amping up the curb appeal with 4 exhaust outlets. Keeping the same bold five-spoke wheels, the RS fog light trim appears to be much more simpler that that on the more powerful models.
Chevrolet's muscle car lineup will be getting some updates for 2014 as we can see in the latest Chevrolet Camaro Spy Shots! If you can't wait for the Camaro 1LE, ZL1, and RS to hit the streets, check out our 2013 Chevy Camaro Brochure, or stop by to take one for a spin at your Midland Area Chevrolet Dealer! 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Surprise Debut
BAY CITY, Mich.- So we knew this week was the New York International Auto Show, and we knew the 2014 Camaro was going to make its debut at the show. But Chevy still managed to surprise us in more ways than one! The 2014 Camaro did indeed make its public debut today, just not as we were expecting.
Much to viewer's surprise, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro made a surprise debut on morning television's Live with Kelly and Michael ahead of it's scheduled official unveiling at the New York Auto Show! The talk show hosts were the first to pull the wraps off the refreshed Camaro, which only made a quick appearance on the show. The updated 2014 Chevrolet Camaro then made its official debut at the New York Auto Show where we received another surprise. After General Motors revealed the 2014 Camaro SS, they shocked the crowd with a surprise reveal of a new Chevrolet Camaro Z28! The new 2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS and 2014 Chevy Camaro Z28 will join the Corvette Stingray and 2014 SS Sedan to round out Chevy's performance lineup.
Taking a closer look at the photos that have surfaced from the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Surprise Debut, you'll immediately notice a new hood that appears to have gained a functional heat extractor as well as an updated front fascia with thinner grille insert. Around back, updates include more rectangular taillights and a new spoiler.
