2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 Earns 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score

In the NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program, all of the 2014 Chevy Silverado models (crew cab, regular, and double cab) earned the highest possible 5-star Overall Vehicle Score! This makes these models the first pickup trucks to receive the 5-star rating since the assessment program began to incorporate more rigorous requirements for the 2011 model year!

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was engineered for safety with the extensive use of high-strength steel to improve performance in crashes, while also working to prevent accidents in the first place with advanced safety features. Available segment-exclusive onboard crash avoidance systems including Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Safety Seat Alert, all alert the driver in an effort to prevent accidents. A new patented warning approach, Safety Seat Alert, uses directional seat vibration pulses to warn the driver of approaching traffic on the left or right side.

But that's not all. Countless other vehicle technology features also help to keep drivers and passengers safe in the new Silverado. For the owner who tows trailers, the available trailer-sway control assists the driver by intervening with braking or reduced engine power to help bring the trailer under control if it begins to sway. Additionally, the truck's four-wheel, four-channel, antilock disc brakes assist with straight, more controlled stops by preventing wheel lock-up in most road conditions.

2014 Corvette Stingray Receives The Most Industry Awards

Chevrolet Announces 4G LTE In-Car Connectivity

BAY CITY, Mich.- With Chevrolet's recent announcement at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, the automaker is speeding past the competition through a new partnership with OnStar and AT&T. Chevrolet announced 4G LTE in-car connectivity will soon be available to drivers of select 2015 models! Customers can stay more connected than ever with the addition of OnStar 4G LTE which will bring high-speed data into the car!

Chevrolet 4G LTE in-car connectivity will first be available on select 2015 models like the 2015 Corvette, Impala, Malibu, and Volt. Following the first rollout, OnStar 4G LTE will make its way into more Chevy vehicles like the 2015 Equinox, Silverado, Silverado HD, Spark, Spark EV and even more models which will be announced later in the year!

The best part about Chevy's new partnership with OnStar and AT&T is that the new 2015 vehicles will have a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, keeping you connected 24/7. Your passengers, whether they be family or friends, can connect to the vehicle's high-speed wireless internet through multiple devices like smartphones, laptops, and tablets. And thanks to AT&T you'll enjoy a more consistent and powerful Wi-Fi connection with the OnStar 4G LTE connection than provided by a smartphone.

New vehicles equipped with 4G LTE in-car connectivity will act as a mobile hub, connecting users more seamlessly to apps and services that may require a high-speed data connection. Tips to Survive the Extreme Cold

BAY CITY, Mich.- If you've gone online, turned on the TV, or just stepped outside, you've heard the news. Winter Storm Ion dumped massive amounts of snow on Michigan along with other states throughout the Midwest and now it's leaving behind some of the coldest temperatures we've felt in decades! We're from Michigan, we know cold weather, but these extreme temperatures are no joke! So bundle up and stay safe with these tips to survive the extreme cold!

Tips to Survive the Extreme Cold

-Before heading outside, make sure to bundle up and cover all of your skin. Dress in several loose warm layers. The air that gets trapped between the layers will insulate you compared to wearing just one layer. A waterproof or windproof outer-layer will protect you from the elements along with a hat that covers your ears and mittens rather than gloves.

-Even if you are dressed warmly, make sure to pay attention to early signs of frostbite so that you can prevent further damage. Make sure to head indoors if you experience redness, prickling, loss of feeling, or pale appearance in fingers and toes, which are all signs of frostbite.

-Stay safe indoors as well by making sure that your heating unit is working correctly. A heating unit that is damaged or not functioning correctly can release dangerous carbon monoxide gas. So it is also important to make sure your carbon monoxide detector is working correctly too.

-These extreme temperatures can be very dangerous for certain people along with pets. If you have family, friends, or neighbors who may be at risk or need assistance, make sure to check in with them. Also, make sure to keep your pets indoors and keep a close eye on them when they must go out to use the bathroom.

-It's best to stay home during this frigid cold, especially since the roads can be dangerous as well. But if you must head out, make sure you have a full tank of gas and have an emergency kit in your vehicle. You cannot predict when you will experience vehicle trouble so it's important to keep basic items like warm clothing, blankets, a flashlight, jumper cables, bandaids, etc. in your car.

-Lastly but not least, make sure to take it easy when shoveling the snow. You probably already know to be careful to not over-exert yourself, but especially in these arctic temperatures, it's important to avoid staying out too long. So take breaks and allow yourself time to warm up.
