  • Travel Snacks – Every athlete is hungry when they are done playing a game or tournament. Be prepared to feed hungry bellies with a few travel snacks. Trail mix, fruit, veggies, or granola bars are easy and portable options.
  • Bottled Water – Having bottled water on hand quenches thirsty kids, but it is also good to have for cleaning messes any time.
  • Chap stick – Fight chapped lips by keeping a stick around. Chap sticks also come with UV protection so you can keep lips from getting burned as well.
  • Camping Folding Chairs/Blanket – While you worry about the athletes, don’t forget yourself! Keep a few chairs or a blanket in the car for when it’s time to sit back and watch the game.
  • Umbrella/Poncho – It is the summer season and rain happens, even when we least expect it. Always be ready with some rain protection gear!

Chevrolet’s Silverado Gained Maximum Performance With A New Air Intake System

Chevrolet’s Silverado Gained Maximum Performance With A New Air Intake System

BAY CITY, Mich. -- Chevrolet knew they wanted to get more from the engine of the Silverado HD. By working on the air intake with many challenging real-world driving conditions, Chevrolet found a way to get the Silverado performing better than before. Chevrolet’s Silverado gained maximum performance with a new air intake system. The new air intake system provides dry cool air to the Silverado engine during any kind of weather.

How does the air intake system help?

The new air intake system provides 60 percent of the air to the diesel engine of the Silverado HD. With the new system the air provided to the engine is closer to the temperature of the outside air, which is much cooler than the air under the hood. Cooler air helps the engine maintain full power and speed even while the truck is trailering in tough weather conditions.

Dry and clean air also helps the Silverado HD diesel engine. The air intake system includes an air/water separator that provides combustion-enhancing dry air for the engine to get maximum performance. In the system the air enters a special air filter chamber that specially separates the humidity from the air before it is sent to the engine.

What makes the air intake system so successful?

To have the amount of success from the air filtering system, it is specially designed on top of the hood of the Silverado. The hood scoop is what provides the 60 percent of the air intake. There is also a ram-air effect that occurs when the Silverado HD is driving at highway speeds, this helps pack more air into the engine through the front fenders and pulls an additional 40 percent of air.

By providing cooler, dryer air to the engine, Chevrolet’s Silverado gained maximum performance with a new air intake system. After testing the Silverado in weather conditions from light rain to monsoon like conditions, from light snow to wind driven hail, the Silverado HD’s new air intake system has successfully enhanced the performance of the diesel engine.

Chevrolet Camaro’s History at the Indy 500

Chevrolet Camaro’s History at the Indy 500

BAY CITY, Mich. – On May 29th the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS served as the official pace car for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. Chevrolet has held the honor of serving as the official pace car 27 times, that is more than any other manufacturer. The Chevrolet Camaro has been the official pace car 9 of those times. In celebration of the 100th race, take a look below at Chevrolet Camaro’s history at the Indy 500.

1967 Camaro RS/SS
As the first Camaro to serve as the Indy 500 pace car, this model was also the original Camaro built.

1969 Camaro RS/SS
This pace car made its mark as becoming one of the most recognizable pace cars in the speedway’s history with orange-over white paint scheme.

1982 Camaro Z28
The Camaro Z28 introduced the third generation of the Camaro and was driven by Indy 500 winner, Jim Rathmann.

1993 Camaro Z28
In 1993 the Camaro Z28 showcased daring back and white paint scheme highlights with multicolored ribbons and matching interior.

2010 Camaro SS (2009 and 2010 Indianapolis 500)

The 2010 Camaro SS made its mark at the famous brickyard in its first and only back-to-back appearance. First in 2009 the Camaro was driven by “Transformers" star Josh Duhamel, and then in 2010 it was driven by “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts (who was only the second woman to ever drive an Indy pace car).

2011 Camaro SS

In 2011 the Camaro debuted for its third year in a row as the pace car. That year it had also paid homage to the 1969 pace car and was dressed in white and orange.

2014 Camaro Z/28

This version of the Camaro pace car became the most track-focused Camaro with a 7.0L LS7 V-8 engine, high performance brake rotors, and 19 inch aluminum wheels.

2017 Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition

This year the Camaro sported “100th Running of the Indianapolis 500” graphics in celebration of the 100th anniversary, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Camaro.

3 Tips for Parents With Teen Drivers

3 Tips for Parents With Teen Drivers

BAY CITY, Mich. – Having a teen driver in the house can be exciting and nerve-racking at the same time. If your teen has started driving or has recently received their license, take a look at our 3 tips for parents with teen drivers. You may find that by applying these 3 tips to your teen’s driving experience they will not only grow into becoming alert and safe drivers, but these tips may also help you become more comfortable with them behind the wheel.

Take a look at our 3 tips for parents with drivers below:

Start Off With Small Trips
Your teen may be anxious to go on that cross country road trip with their friends, but you know they aren’t ready at first. Start your teen with making small trips around town. Whether they have their driver’s permit or just earned their driver’s license, making smaller trips will get them comfortable behind the wheel and help them grow more confident with their driving. So when you need a gallon of milk from the local grocery store, have your teen drive the car to get there!

Set A Good Example and Good Rules
Your teen will learn their driving habits from you! Set a good example by obeying traffic laws, not using your phone while driving, and always buckling your seat belt. If you want your teen to be a smart driver, then be one too!

Setting your own rules at home is a great way to implement a responsible driver. Curfews and passenger limitations are ways to know your teen is practicing safe driving. Also by having your teen participate in the financial cost that goes into a vehicle helps teach them about maintenance responsibilities.

3 Tips for Parents With Teen Drivers

Get Your Teen Prepared in Case of an Accident

Even if you have faith in your teen’s driving, getting behind the wheel of a car puts anyone at risk of many unexpected events. If your teen experiences getting in an accident you want to make sure they know what to do. Having emergency kits in the vehicle at all times is just one step you can take to get your teen more prepared.

By using these 3 tips for parents with teen drivers, you will be able to encourage and teach your teen how to be safe and responsible when they get behind the wheel. Along with teaching your teen how to become a safe driver, you should find a vehicle that also works to keep them safe like the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze not only comes with top technology and safety features, but it also can be purchased with Chevy’s new 24/7 Promise. The 24/7 Promise offers everything from vehicle maintenance assistance to OnStar capabilities. Now your teen can have the support of you and Chevrolet.

Don’t know if buying another vehicle is right for your family? Take a look at our Buying vs. Leasing page. There you can learn about the difference between buying and leasing a vehicle and see which option is best for you. Then take a closer look at the buying and leasing processes with our How to Buy and How to Lease pages. At Graff Bay City we want you to be just as informed as we are! If you have additional questions about buying or leasing a vehicle you can contact our finance experts today.

Celebrate National Tire Safety Week with Graff Bay City

Celebrate National Tire Safety Week with Graff Bay City

BAY CITY, Mich. – Do you know proper tire safety? From May 29th through June 4th it's National Tire Safety Week! With the summer season bringing more vehicle travel and long road trips, now is the perfect time to learn how to keep yourself and your passengers’ safe. Below we have put together a tire safety checklist to remember when traveling. Now you can keep your tires safe at all times and celebrate National Tire Safety Week with Graff Bay City!

Tire Safety Checklist:

Have you checked your tire pressure?

Before leaving for a long trip or vacation, make sure you check your tire’s air pressure. Proper tire inflation will help your vehicle drive better, help you save on fuel costs, and keep your tires performing to the best of their abilities. If you need help finding your vehicle’s air pressure recommendations check your Owner’s Manual.

Have you checked your tire tread?

Your tire tread is important because the tread keeps your tires gripped properly to the ground, giving you a safe drive. There are some ways to check your tire tread while at home! Visit our FAQ page to learn the steps to performing the Penny Test on your tires.

Do you have a spare available?

Even if you are prepared for the worst, the unexpected can happen. Having a spare tire on hand will help you not be stuck on the side of the road. If you do have to use a spare tire remember to not drive over 50 miles with one, and not over 50 mph. Try getting to a tire service location as fast as possible.

Celebrate National Tire Safety Week with Graff Bay City

Have you had a tire rotation?

Routine tire rotations are a great and convenient way to keep your tires in good condition for longer periods of time. They help with even tire tread wear, and help fuel efficiency. We recommend getting a tire rotation every 6,000 miles or every other oil change. Schedule an appointment with our Service Center today for your next tire rotation.

Do you need a tire alignment?

Have you noticed your steering wheel pulling to one side or the other? This could be due to your tire alignment being off. Your tires should always be parallel to one another when you are driving. Having a problem with your tire alignment can lead to faster tire tread wear and cause more damage in the long run.

By going through your tire checklist you will be prepared for anything once you have hit the road. Do you have questions about tire maintenance? Visit our FAQ page for answers to all things tires. To learn more about tire service you can also visit the tire routine maintenance page of our website.
