Chevrolet to Debut Performance-Oriented Concepts at SEMA 2013

BAY CITY, Mich.- The world's largest convention of automotive aftermarket parts and accessories , SEMA, is coming up on November 5th-8th and automakers are preparing to show off their most impressive vehicles. At a preview late last week, it was announced that Chevrolet will debut performance-oriented concepts at SEMA 2013! Some of the brand's most popular passenger cars will get an aftermarket makeover, including the Impala, Sonic, and Spark EV.

Next week in Las Vegas, Chevrolet will debut performance-oriented concepts at SEMA 2013, showcasing a variety of cosmetic and performance upgrades. Most recently, the upated Impala made its dealership debut, and an Urban Cool Impala Concept will make an appearance at the show. The urban concept will feature a unique interior trim and leather with 20-inch painted wheels and ground effects on the exterior.

Another recently redesigned Chevy vehicle, the Malibu LTZ, will also receive custom looks and increased power for the upcoming show. The Malibu gets a sporty kick from a Borla exhaust system and a boost of power from cold-air induction, while being complimented by new ground effects and 19-inch sterling silver finish wheels with matching paint.

Three Chevy Sonic concepts will also be showcased at SEMA 2013. The Chevrolet Performance Sonic RS concept features engine, suspension, and brake upgrades like cold-air induction and high-flow exhaust, along with appearance upgrades that draw on the legacy of Chevy's high-performance vehicles. The Ricky Carmichael All-Activity Sonic concept adds an all-new performance package that includes a 1.4L Turbo Stage Kit with high-flow exhaust. The personalization Sonic concept will also appear at the show, placing a a larger emphasis on personalization and a fun take on the Sonic with a chrome stripe and exterior graphics.

Chevrolet's Spark EV Tech Performance concept is making a big splash at SEMA 2013, by offering more torque than a 1969 Camaro SS! The typically economical electric vehicle is transformed into a battery-powered drag racer while also featuring a custom exterior color and a backlit version of the bowtie badge.

Last but not least, the Personalization Cruze Diesel concept will also make its debut, showing off a fresh athletic look with an updated front fascia and chin spoiler. Along with impressive power, the Cruze Diesel concept also boasts 46 mpg hwy, with the ability to travel 717 miles on a single tank!

2014 Chevy Silverado Benefits From Intense Durability Testing

BAY CITY, Mich.- Chevrolet's Silverado is built to last, and the automaker definitely goes the extra mile to make sure their trucks are up for any challenge. The 2014 Chevy Silverado benefits from intense durability testing to ensure it can outlast even the toughest tasks! For the latest model, Chevrolet conducted 12.5 million miles of testing before the trucks even go into production!

To make sure the 2014 Silverado could go the distance, no matter the driving conditions, test trucks drove through scorching heat in Yuma, Arizona to frigid air in Kapuskasing, Ontario and topped it all off with torture tests at General Motors' Proving Ground in Milford, Michigan. Overall the test trucks completed more than 4 million miles of extreme durability testing. To push the new Silverado to its limit the tough tests included traversing the Belgian blocks, splashing through the off-road-simulation grit trough, climbing/descending a 30% grade, and driving at high speeds.

Not to mention, through most of the tests, the Silverado was loaded to its gross vehicle weight to make sure this truck could handle the heaviest of loads for the long haul. While Chevrolet proved that the 2014 Silverado can perform under the most demanding conditions, most drivers don't drive their truck fully loaded on a regular basis. So, the automaker had a fleet of test trucks travel over 8.2 million miles of real-world driving too.

The 2014 Chevy Silverado benefits from intense durability testing and with the 12.5 million miles of testing, Chevrolet looked to improve areas of the truck that could be improved and continue with what was already considered world class. The automaker implemented three key durability improvements on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado:
-A high-strength steel frame to ensure it will not crack, even when loaded to full capacity.
-New four-wheel-disc brake system with Duralife brake rotors that offer double the service life and brake-tuning revisions that improve pedal feel for more confident braking performance on any driving surface.
-Extra protection from stones and gravel with an anti-chip coating on the lower body side.

Chevrolet Expands Siri Eyes Free Integration to 2014 Models

BAY CITY, Mich.- With the automaker's latest announcement, Chevrolet is making staying connected even easier and safer for drivers and passengers. Announced earlier this week, Chevrolet is expanding Siri Eyes Free Integration to 2014 models, including the 2014 Camaro, Cruze, Equinox, Malibu, SS, and Volt!

Siri Eyes Free Integration was first implemented in the Chevy Sonic and Spark, and after a positive response from consumers, the automaker has announced it will expand the technology to more 2014 models! Many drivers are now familiar with in-car infotainment systems, and the new Siri Integration compliments Chevrolet's MyLink capabilities perfectly.

Similar to how iPhone users interact with Siri outside of the car, Chevy's Siri Integration allows compatible iPhone users to use their voice to direct Siri to perform various tasks through the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system. And to minimize distraction even further, the Siri Eyes Free mode prevents the phone's screen from lighting up. So, users can use their voice to interact with their phone without being distracted by their phone lighting up.

To use Siri Eyes Free in your 2014 Chevy vehicle, all you have to do is pair your iPhone via Bluetooth with the MyLink system and then use the voice activation controls on the steering wheel to interact with Siri. With the new technology, drivers can make voice-activated, hands-free calls; play songs and control music sources from iTunes/AM/FM/XM; listen to, compose, and send text messages; and access calendars to add appointments.
