BAY CITY, Mich. – Ahead of its expected New York Auto Show
Debut, the brand new 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible was introduced,
becoming one of the most capable drop-tops on the market! For the first time
since 1963, you will be able to enjoy open air driving in the most powerful
convertible ever produced by Chevy!
The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible introduction is
particularly significant because until recently, an open roof model wasn’t
possible for a vehicle with this much capability. The lightweight structures
just weren’t strong enough to handle the supercar’s braking, cornering, and
acceleration. In fact, the last time a convertible Z06 was offered from the
factory was in 1963! However, thanks to today’s advancements in computer-aided
engineering, metallurgy, and manufacturing techniques, the aluminum chassis of
the newest Corvette Z06 is 20 percent stiffer than previous models, making a
drop-top possible!
Neither performance, power, nor precision are sacrificed
with the Z06 convertible either. The only difference between the coupe and
convertible models are the provisions for mounting the power folding top which
required the seatbelt mounts to be repositioned and the trans and differential
coolers to be relocated to the underbody. So pick your preference out of the
four colors available for the thick fabric top, three basic configurations:
Standard, Carbon Fiber Aero Package, or Z07 Package, and then get ready to make
the most of the Z06’s 625 horsepower made possible by the new LT4 6.2-liter
supercharged V8 engine.
