Chevrolet's New Limited Production Shade for Sonic

Chevrolet's New Limited Production Shade for Sonic
BAY CITY, Mich. - The Chevy Sonic has already been named the best small car made in the USA, making it a vehicle that stands out among sub-compact cars - now Chevy wants to further the Sonic's distinction by making it a color you won't be able to ignore! Chevrolet's new limited production shade for the Sonic is a chromatic plum shade titled Deep Magenta Metallic.

This plum color is the first limited-edition color to be offered for the Sonic, with a second color being added later this year. Chevy acknowledged that drivers consider exterior color to be an important factor and many vehicles come with limited paint options. If you're interested in this vibrant color, the Deep Magenta Metallic color will be offered exclusively August through October. After the Magenta is off the market, the hue 'Cool Blue' will be made available from November until March.

If you're more concerned about the interior of a car than the exterior, rest assured that the Chevy Sonic has a lot to offer. With a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine that can produce 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, this sub-compact car can go from 0-60 mph in a mere 8.2 seconds! It's also received a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety, and was voted the 2012 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.

9 Things You Need to Know About the C7 Corvette

9 Things You Need to Know About the C7 Corvette
BAY CITY, Mich. - The Chevrolet Corvette C7 is  one of the year's most hotly anticipated vehicles, and is expected to hit dealerships in the fall of this year. So while we eagerly await it's release, here are 9 things you need to know about the C7 Corvette:

1. The C7 marks the first use of a 'shape memory alloy wire' in a production vehicle. The new corvette uses a smart material wire, which is typically made of copper-aluminum-nickel or nickel-titanium. The reason that it is called 'smart material' is because this material can change its shape, strength and stiffness when it encounters heat, a magnetic field, voltage, etc. When the heat, voltage, etc. is removed, the 'smart material' will return to its original shape.

2. The C7's eLSD (Electronic Limited-Slip Differential) goes from open to full lock in tenths of a second. This eLSD will come standard with the Z51 Performance Package and uses a hydraulically actuated clutch to vary the amount of engagement - open to full lock in tenths of a second.  This is especially handy in notoriously bad Michigan weather.

3. Corvettes equipped with Z51 Performance Package or an automatic transmission get functional vents and rear-mounted transmission and differential heat exchangers.

4. NASA-developed insulation, called Aerogel, is used on the transmission tunnel. While the C6 was known for getting a little warm, the C7 uses Aerogel (a material used in space suits) to combat the heat in the center tunnel. Aerogel is an amazing material that is 99.8% air and insulates 39 times better than fiberglass.

5. 30 mpg - enough said.

6. $50k has always been the goal. With so many cool features packed into the C7, it's hard to believe that they were able to keep the base price at $50k. However, they set out in the beginning with intentions of not increasing the price too much. They were able to cut back the cost without taking anything away from the vehicle.

7. It's tires are amazing. Michelin worked with the Corvette team for 36 months to create tires for the car, and the result was the Pilot Super Sport ZP. This is a hybrid of the PS2 and PS Cup.

8. No more cross-drilled rotors! They have been replaced with new discs that are vented with shallow grooves. The C7 is also equipped with Brembo brakes.

9. Speaking of tires, the tires have asymmetrical sidewalls. This simply means that the walls of the tires are 3-mm thicker and made with stiffer construction to maximize comfort and turns.

We hope that these 9 things you need to know about the C7 Corvette has gotten you as excited for it's release as we are! With so many great features, this car is sure to satisfy your need for speed, as well as make you feel luxurious.  If you don't want to wait for the release of this vehicle, you can always check out our 2013 Chevy Corvette Brochure! Best Small Car Made in the USA: Chevy Sonic

Best Small Car Made in the USA: Chevy Sonic
BAY CITY, Mich. - During a time when many car parts are manufactured overseas, many are left wondering what cars are actually made in the United States. This can be a difficult question to answer, as certain parts are produced in various parts of the world. However, one American University professor has created a Made-In-America Index that looks at where each car company is located, and where their research and production is done. Taking this index into account, and also looking at how stylish and comfortable each vehicle is, the best small car made in the USA is the Chevy Sonic.

According to this Made-In-America Index, the Chevrolet Traverse is actually one of the top contenders for being the most American, as it scored 88.5 out of 100. Yet, when you take into account style and how comfortable, the Chevy Sonic was voted best small car made in the USA. The Sonic is assembled in Michigan, with the Chevy headquarters being located in Detroit. As for comfortableness and style, the Sonic is a small car with plenty of room for passengers to sit comfortably.

As for the specifications of the 2013 Chevy Sonic, it has a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine that gets 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0-60 mph in 8.2 seconds, meaning that this little vehicle is pretty quick! It was also voted the 2012 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, as well as receiving a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety.

Want your very own Chevy Sonic? Check out our 2013 Chevy Sonic Brochure or stop in at our our Mt. 6 Simple Fourth of July Recipes

6 Simple Fourth of July Recipes
BAY CITY, Mich. - It's officially time to celebrate the red, white and blue as Independence Day has arrived! We know that this day is all about celebration and fun, so you shouldn't have to stress about what you're going to make. Whether you're taking food to a BBQ, or throwing one of your own, we have 6 simple 4th of July recipes that quick and painless.

6 Simple Fourth of July Recipes1. Patriotic Popcorn! This recipe is super simple and super delicious. First, you pop your popcorn (or buy a bag of pre-popped) and place it in a large bowl. Taking a 12 oz. bag of candy melts (we use vanilla), melt the chocolate using either the microwave or your oven. After the candy is melted, pour it over your popped popcorn and toss it to spread the chocolate evenly. Using your hands is recommended, but you can get creative. After it is evenly tossed, take red/blue sprinkles and sprinkle it over your popcorn. The popcorn will need to cool for a few hours, but it's absolutely delicious when it's ready!

2. Layered Fourth of July drinks! The trick to getting the layers is to look at sugar content. For these drinks, Sobe Pina Colada, OceanSpray Cran-Apple, and Gatorade Blueberry-Pomegranate were used. The drink with the highest sugar content (the OceanSpray) will sink to the bottom, while the drink with the lowest sugar content (the Gatorade) will rise to the top. You can use any drink you'd like, as long as you layer the sugar content.

3. Red, White and Blue Strawberries! This is such a simple thing to do and always looks so nice on your table. Using melted white chocolate (if you made the patriotic popcorn, you should still have melted candy melts!), dip your strawberries 3/4 of the way into the chocolate. Immediately after dipping, roll your strawberry in blue sprinkles. They will need time for the chocolate to harden, but they look and taste so nice when they are ready!

6 Simple Fourth of July Recipes4. Spangled Sandwich Pops! The nice thing about this recipe is that the sandwiches are already made - you just have to make them patriotic! Taking a box of ice cream sandwiches, insert a popsicle stick into each one. Then, simply roll the sandwiches in red, white, and blue sprinkles to make them ready for the 4th. If you think these sandwiches will get messy, we recommend sticking the popsicle stick end through a cupcake liner to catch any drips.

5. Independence Day Fruit Salad! This requires almost no effort, as you'll just need a big bowl and various red, white and blue fruit. We recommend using blueberries as your blue fruit, as blueberry season is in full swing here in Michigan. Raspberries, watermelon, or strawberries will work for your red fruit, while bananas work great as your white!

6. DIY Festive Cupcakes! This is a great thing to try if you have kids and want to keep them busy. Simply prepare various red, white and blue cupcakes. After letting them cool, the kids can decorate them with various festive toppings! This entertains the kids and also let's them get a little creative!

We hope you have enjoyed these 6 simple fourth of July recipes! Fourth of July is all about freedom and fun, so enjoy yourselves and be safe!
