Helpful Tips to Improve Your Vehicle’s Fuel Efficiency

Helpful Tips to Improve Your Vehicle’s Fuel Efficiency

BAY CITY, Mich. – A summer full of road trips and fun is ahead, and the easiest way to save money on your next vacation is having a fuel-efficient car. Graff Bay City has plenty of great Chevy models that will lower your weekly gas bill, but if you’re not in the market for a new car here are some helpful tips to improve your vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
  1. Check your tire pressure monthly. On the inside of your driver door you’ll find the recommended PSI for your tires. Under-inflated tires will burn through more fuel, so keeping them properly inflated will give you more miles per gallon.
  2. Use cruise control as much as possible. When you’re driving on the freeway for a long period of time, turn on your cruise control and save you fuel. Cruise control will give you more miles to the gallon.
  3. Run all your errands in one trip. By making one big trip instead of a several smaller ones you’ll be saving your gas overtime. It may not seem like it, but starting up your car and running back and forth each time will use up more fuel in the long run.
  4. Consider your driving style. The way you drive will have a huge impact on how much gas you go through. For example, if you slam on your brakes or accelerate quickly you’re going to burn through more gas than someone who accelerates and brakes gradually.
  5. Get rid of unnecessary items. If you’re the type of person who carries everything in their car, you may want to reconsider. The heavier your car is, the less miles you’re getting per gallon. We recommend getting rid of the unnecessary items you have sitting in your trunk and back seat to improve your fuel efficiency.
  6. Give your engine some love. Routine oil changes and other maintenance will go a long way. By giving your engine the routine maintenance it needs, you vehicle will not only last longer, but it will also get the best MPG possible.
Use these helpful tips to improve your vehicle’s fuel efficiency for great savings on gas this summer! Tips To Save Fuel In Winter

Tips To Save Fuel In Winter
BAY CITY, Mich.- When gas prices continue to climb we start to think of how we can improve our fuel efficiency to save some extra cash at the pump. Well, did you know that in addition to your usual fuel saving practices, there are a few Tips To Save Fuel In Winter specifically? Keep combining all of your shorter trips and turn off your vehicle if you expect to be idling for more than 10 seconds, but add these winter fuel saving tips into the mix too and you'll be filling up less often!

The first way to save fuel in the winter is to get rid of the extra weight in your trunk or truck bed. While the extra weight can help with traction, it drastically reduces your fuel economy! And while you're getting rid of the extra weight, make sure to clear off all of the snow and ice since that adds weight too.

Second, be aware of even the lightest dusting of snow. Snow creates resistance for your vehicle and even the lightest dusting can lower your fuel economy. Ideally, you should try to wait until the roads have been cleared, but if you have to go out drive in the tracks that have been created by another vehicle for the least resistance.

And if you can, park your car in the garage during the winter months. Your vehicle will stay warmer while it's not being used and won't burn as much energy while warming up. If you can't park in a garage, you don't need to warm your car up for 10 minutes either. It only takes 30 seconds to warm the engine sufficiently, and anything after that is wasteful.

Make your next tank of gas last a little longer with these Tips To Save Fuel In Winter. If your tires have been slipping and sliding this season, keep our Tire Discounts in mind!
