BAY CITY, Mich.- Over the weekend, the very first Corvette Stingray Convertible went up for sale at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida. Lucky bidder, Rick Hendrick bid $1 million to make the first Stingray convertible his own! You may recall that Hendrick already dropped $1.1 million on the first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe too! An avid Corvette collector and NASCAR team owner, Hendrick paid a whopping $2.1 million to own both the coupe and convertible 2014 Corvette Stingray!
Yikes! That's a ton of money just for two cars, even if they are the original 2014 'Vettes. The good news it, all of that money was donated to charity! General Motors has donated the proceeds from the sale of the first 2014 Stingray Coupe and Convertible to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
The first Corvette Stingray Convertible sold for $1 million and while we don't have millions to spend on the original Stingray, we're excited to welcome the new 'Vette to our lot during the third quarter of this year! But that can be a long time to wait, so until then fulfill your need for speed with our 2013 Chevy Corvette Brochure! Or come check out any of our New Chevrolet Cars near Midland, MI! 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible Photos
BAY CITY, Mich.- The convertible model of the C7 Corvette isn't set to officially debut until tomorrow, March 5th, at the Geneva Auto Show. However, Chevy gave us a little pre-reveal sneak peek with these 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible Photos! And know we're even more excited for the reveal to discover all of the official details.
These pre-reveal Stingray Convertible images give us a better look at the Corvette's tail and show a few notable changes. Obviously, the rear end of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible closely resembles that of the 2014 Coupe. However, we noticed a few details that changed as a part of the transformation into a convertible. To create a shoulder that surrounds the tonneau cover, the lower edges of the side windows extend to the tail of the car. Also, the rear fender vents present on the 2014 Corvette Coupe apear to be moved on the Stingray Convertible. In addition, with the top up, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible appears to have a glass rear window.
Official details won't be released until tomorrow, but we expect the convertible to employ the same LT1 6.2-liter V8 engine providing 450 HP. So until then, enjoy these 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible Photos or check out the current model 2013 Chevy Corvette Brochure or our Chevrolet Corvette Inventory. 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible Debut at Geneva

Why isn't GM hosting the debut in the United States? Well, the Corvette is an icon and is loved all over the world, even in countries where it is not offered. Plus, this is General Motors' first push to strengthen the Chevy Brand across Europe. And even though neither Chevy nor Corvette have a major sales presence in Switzerland, Chevrolet's European headquarters is located in Zurich, just a few hours northeast of where the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible Debut in Geneva will take place.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible will follow in the tire tracks of the original Stingray Coupe, and will also be auctioned off for charity at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction. The proceeds from the C7 Convertible auction will go to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, located in Michigan!
Stay tuned for details on the reveal of the Corvette Stingray Convertible! But, to learn more about the previous generation Corvette, enjoy our 2013 Chevy Corvette Brochure or check out our Chevrolet Corvette Inventory.
