Chevrolet Silverado & Equinox Showcased at Comerica Park

Chevrolet Silverado & Equinox Showcased at Comerica Park

BAY CITY, Mich. — Today is Opening Day for the Detroit Tigers in Detroit and along side the game, baseball fanatics will be able to enjoy the presence of two beautiful Chevy vehicles showcased at Comerica Park for the 2014 season! A Blue Topaz Chevrolet Silverado and a Crystal Red Metallic Chevy Equinox made their way to the top of the Chevrolet Fountain just behind centerfield in Comerica Park last Thursday, March 27th.

Chevrolet is the Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball and it only makes sense that the Silverado and Equinox put their gears into park right at their hometown stadium. With the assistance of a massive crane, it took about three hours to get these gems in place atop the Chevrolet Fountain. Not only does Chevy sponsor the well-known fountain at Comerica Park, but each year they select their most prominent vehicles from their lineup to showcase throughout the season. With the help of over 3 million spectators in the stands and at home, maybe the full-size pickup and small SUV will act as good luck charms for the Tigers, inspiring them to knock it out of the park!

At the end of the 2014 baseball season, the Silverado and Equinox will be updated and detailed before going to dealer auction, unlike the featured vehicles from previous years. So if the Chevrolet Silverado and Equinox Showcased at Comerica Park catch your eye, head over to Graff Bay City and we can help you spring into the new season in style! Corvette to get 30 MPG with 8-Speed Transmission?

Corvette to get 30 MPG with 8-Speed Transmission?
BAY CITY, Mich.– Corvette and fuel efficiency aren't typically two things that you would associate in the same sentence. But times are a changin' and soon they may be synonymous because the 2015 Corvette Z06 could get 30 mpg with the new 8-speed transmission! Could the new transmission be the final piece to the puzzle facilitating fuel efficiency in Chevy performance vehicles?

According to General Motors in a recent report from the Society of Automotive Engineers, it is that final puzzle piece. GM is confident the 2015 Corvette Z06 8-speed transmission will get 30 mpg. With the current 6-speed, 30 mpg isn't far off and with two extra ratios the 8L90 eight speed transmission improves efficiency by up to 5 percent, which means an EPA-certified 30 mpg highway fuel efficiency rating could be a reality. Plus, the new unit is over eight pounds lighter than the outgoing six-speed, while being equivalent in size. Not to mention, it is capable of shifting 0.8 seconds quicker than the Porsche 911's dual-clutch transmission.

Convinced? The new 8-speed transmission will debut in the 2015 Corvette Z06, but even if a 'Vette isn't in the cards for you, it's possible we may see the standard 2016 model vehicles adopt the new unit! Hank Graff Chevy is located at 3636 Wilder Road, Bay City, MI 48706. Spring's Dangerous Driving Conditions

Spring's Dangerous Driving Conditions
BAY CITY, Mich.– The first official day of spring is behind us even though it still feels a bit like winter. Hopefully more spring-like weather will come our way soon, and as it does, it's important to remember that just because the roads will not be snow and ice covered, the new season presents some hazardous driving situations of its own. Stay safe this season by staying aware of spring's dangerous driving conditions.

Dangerous Spring Driving Conditions

-Rain, rain, go away. But before it does, it creates slippery roads and possible flooding. Wet pavement and road conditions drastically increase stopping distance and can reduce your vehicle's handling. Plus, as puddles grow, road flooding can hide potholes or cause you to hydroplane.

-Not only does spring bring rain, but occasionally it brings hail as well. Those little ice balls can not only cause damage to your vehicle, but they create dangerous driving conditions as well. So if possible, try to stay home until the storm passes.

-One hazardous spring driving condition that we're already experiencing, are the crazy potholes. This winter was especially rough, and after long months of ice, snow, salt, sand, and snow plows, the roads are falling apart. Keeping your eyes on the road ahead of you, can help you maneuver around the potholes if possible.

- As the weather warms, drivers must keep an eye out for even more distractions on the road. Not only are motorcyclists and bikers excited to hit the road when warm weather arrives, but animals become more active too as hibernation ends and mating season begins. So when making traffic maneuvers, be aware of motorcycles and bikes, and always keep an eye out for excited animals that are especially active during dawn and dusk.

This year especially, we're all excited to get outdoors and enjoy some nicer weather. Just make sure to stay safe on the road by avoiding spring's driving dangers. Hank Graff Chevy is located at 3636 Wilder Road, Bay City, MI 48706. Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Wheel Slip

Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Wheel Slip
BAY CITY, Mich.– The Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 has been noted as the most track-capable Camaro in history, but arriving there wasn't a walk in the park for engineers. Producing a vehicle that was so capable and powerful resulted in some unexpected issues for engineers, but quick and creative solutions to problems like the Camaro Z/28's wheel slip allowed the Z/28 to come out on top!

The Chevrolet Camaro Z/28's wheel slip is actually a problem engineers encountered directly as a result of the performance car's power. The Chevy team selected only the best suppliers when designing the Z/28, including Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires and Brembo carbon-ceramic brake rotors. But the tire's intense traction and the brake's 1.5 g deceleration force were actually causing the wheels to rotate inside the tires!

To sort out the rotation problem, the team marked a chalk like on one of the tires relative to the valve system on the wheel before the car hit the track, then after taking a lap they realized the tire had rotated at least a full 360 degrees! So first they tested a racing technique to reduce the slippage: applying an abrasive paint around the bead of the wheel where the tire meets the rim. But found out that the paint wasn't strong enough! Needing much more texture, engineers tested and found success in media blasting: shooting a gritty material through an air gun at the wheel's surface to create texture in the paint for the wheel to grip.

The Camaro Z/28's wheel slip solution is just one example of the creative thinking used in developing the most track-capable Camaro ever. The best part is that the Z/28 will hit dealerships this spring, so you will have the chance to take one home soon! Hank Graff Chevy is located at 3636 Wilder Road, Bay City, MI 48706. Chevy's Extreme Pothole Testing

Chevy's Extreme Pothole Testing
BAY CITY, Mich.– It's been a wicked winter, and while it doesn't even feel like it's over yet, the aftermath is apparent–in the form of extreme potholes. So in order to avoid serious whiplash as well as damage to your tires, wheels, and suspension components, it's best to avoid potholes. But with the current road conditions, that's pretty much impossible, agreed? The good news is that Chevy is there to help us out with vehicles that a built tough thanks to extreme pothole testing at GM's Milford Proving Ground!

To develop vehicles that were tougher than the chassis-rattling potholes we experience in Michigan, GM engineers began extreme pothole testing Chevrolet vehicles at General Motors Milford Proving Ground. Engineers are able to evaluate and tune vehicle suspension to minimize passenger discomfort by manufacturing a wide variety of road surface conditions including some seriously intense potholes. Over the past 40 years, the brand has been collecting data from these tests in order to develop tougher vehicles that can handle the pothole-filled roadways.

When your vehicle hits a pothole, the main problem is that the load is not transferred properly. But through the extensive testing, Chevrolet has been able to reduce the vibrations from sudden, harsh impacts with robust body structures. And with suspensions that can be tuned more precisely, customers enjoy a smoother, more controlled ride. Not to mention, tires and wheels take a beating from potholes too so GM has designed its tires and wheels to be stronger and better able to withstand impact.

First and foremost with our current deteriorating road conditions, we want you to stay safe so make sure to take it slow and keep your eyes on the road. If you're looking for further protection against your bumpy commute, we can help you find it in a new Chevrolet car or truck! Hank Graff Chevy is located at 3636 Wilder Road, Bay City, MI 48706. Chevrolet Announces In-Car Beats Music App

Chevrolet Announces In-Car Beats Music App

BAY CITY, Mich.– It's no secret that advanced vehicle technologies are creating customized in-car experiences for drivers all over and the recent addition of OnStar 4G LTE to select Chevy vehicles is taking that experience to the next level. Through that technology, Chevrolet announced an in-car Beats Music App will be available later this year for those who like to customize their music entertainment while on the road.

The in-car Beats Music App available through the Chevrolet AppShop will give Chevy drivers and passengers the opportunity to enjoy music from every genre imaginable. Those with a trial or paid Beats Music account will be able to listen to personalized playlists or playlists created by music industry professionals through the Chevy infotainment system. Compared to the standard Beats Music application, the in-car version prevents features that can be considered distracting, like using the keyboard, from being accessed while the vehicle is in motion.

Whether you're a current Beats Music fan or are interested in exploring the application further on your smartphone, the in-car version features all of the same signature features, like the "Just For You" recommendations and "Highlights" staff recommendations. Plus, while using the in-car version, you can still access all of the playlists you've created or saved on your mobile device, along with playlists tailored specifically for certain drive times, from road trips to traffic jams.

If you love some good tunes to accompany you while you find new roads, you won't have to wait long. Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Flowtie

Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Flowtie

BAY CITY, Mich.– When Chevy's team got to work on the 2014 Camaro Z/28, they faced quite the challenge– to make sure it offered even more impressive track performance than its counterparts. But how do you take a vehicle that is already top-of-the-line to the next level? Well, after scrutinizing the performance car lap after lap, the Chevy Camaro Z/28 Flowtie was born!

In a search for ways to improve track performance, some out of the box thinking led to the development of a modified Chevy Bowtie to offer improved aerodynamics. One of the Chevrolet engineers pointed out that the grille placement of the classic Chevy Bowtie was actually displacing air away from the radiator during aerodynamic testing, which was in turn affecting engine cooling. So to improve airflow to the engine, the team came up with the Chevy Camaro Z/28 Flowtie, a modified version of the classic Bowtie, since they agreed removing the Bowtie altogether wasn't a valid option.

The Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Flowtie design features just the chrome bowtie outline, leaving the center of the badge open. Aerodynamic testing revealed that this modification allows three additional cubic meters of air into the engine per minute, resulting in a 2 degree drop in engine coolant and oil temperatures! The 2014 Z/28 is more capable than ever, and the modified bowtie is just one example of how the car will bring improved performance to the track!

If you can't wait to get your hands on one, you won't have to wait long because the Z/28 will be hitting the streets this spring, and we can help hook you up! Hank Graff Chevy is located at 3636 Wilder Road, Bay City, MI 48706. Three Corvettes Recovered From Sinkhole

Three Corvettes Recovered From Sinkhole

BAY CITY, Mich.– Remember when news broke last month that a massive 40-ft. sinkhole opened up under the National Corvette Museum, swallowing eight rare Corvettes? How could you forget it, right? As sad as it is to think about those classic Corvettes covered in rubble, we do have some good news to share–three Corvettes were recovered from the sinkhole this week!

This week crews got to work in Bowling Green, KY, uncovering three of the most accessible vehicles from the National Corvette Museum sinkhole. First was a 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil that only endured minor damage from its 30-ft. fall and was able to start up and drive through the museum doors. The second, a 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Edition Corvette, sustained quite a bit more damage with broken windows and significant damage to the front and rear. The third car posed more of a challenge for crews since a five-ton slab of concrete from the museum's floor was resting on the front of the 1962 black Corvette, which meant both the car and concrete had to be removed simultaneously. But two cranes got the job done!

Three Corvettes Recovered From Sinkhole
While three Corvettes were recovered from the sinkhole this week, the remaining five will have to remain buried until workers can further stabilize the sinkhole, a process that could take two to three weeks. From there recovery of the remaining vehicles could extend through August 3rd!

How To Save Money On Teen Car Insurance

How To Save Money On Teen Car Insurance
BAY CITY, Mich.– As a teenager, one of the most exciting moments in life is finally getting a drivers license. But as a parent, it is one of the most stressful. Not only are you stressed about your child's safety on the road and what vehicle they will be driving, whether you are purchasing it for them or not. But then comes the unavoidable cost of car insurance, which we all know can be difficult to find at an affordable price for a young driver. While we can't exactly relieve all of the stresses this life-stage brings, we can give you some tips on how to save money on teen car insurance!

How To Save Money on Teen Car Insurance

1. Check Out Your Options – Even if you already have a plan in place for yourself, make sure to comparison shop to find the best rates for your new driver whether you are adding them to your plan or looking for a separate policy. These days there is so much competition between car insurance companies and it is simple to receive quotes online to make shopping for car insurance easy.

2. Teen Driver Discounts – The good news is that there are a few teen driver discounts that you may be able to take advantage of with your current carrier or through a new provider. Look for companies that offer a discount for teens who have taken a driver safety education course, are good students (usually maintaining a B average), or are a low-mileage driver.

3. Expand Your Policy – When purchasing car insurance for your teen driver, you can either acquire a separate policy or add them to your current plan which is usually less expensive. You can even save more if your teen drives the vehicle that is the least costly to insure and they are assigned to that vehicle on the insurance policy. Even if you want them to be responsible for paying for their own insurance, you can set up a plan for them to pay you directly.

4. Consider The Car – Whether or not you will be buying a car for your young driver, they will be purchasing it themselves, or they will be sharing a family car, consider which car they will be driving. The best policy rates for teen drivers are generally associated with vehicles that have high safety ratings/features, aren't brand new, and are less prone to theft.

5. Safe Driving – It goes without saying that when your new driver hits the road, you want them to be as safe as possible. But reinforcing the importance of safe driving can continue to build good driving habits that will help keep them and other drivers safe while on the road.

6. Deductibles – Another option to carefully consider is increasing your deductibles. While this will lower your premiums, it's important to remember that in the event of an accident, paying a deductible could outweigh any premium savings you may have accrued.

7. Adult Driver Discounts – While you're at it, make sure that you are taking advantage of all the possible discounts for yourself as a policyholder too. If you don't have them already, you may be eligible for discounts related to multiple cars, multiple policies, good drivers, safe vehicles, or safe driver classes.

When it comes down to it, you definitely want to make sure that you have the security of sound auto protection for your teen driver as well as for yourself. You can also get some peace of mind by knowing they are in a safe vehicle.
