5 Steps to a Relaxing Commute

5 Steps to a Relaxing Commute
BAY CITY, Mich. - Millions of Americans spend their morning commuting to work - no matter if you're worrying about what's waiting for you at work, or feeling stressed about what's going on at home, the drive to your workplace can feel dull or troubling. To help you combat the stresses of driving, here are 5 steps to a relaxing commute:

Listen to an audio book. Your commute to and from work is a great time to listen to your favorite book, or become interested in a new one. By getting into a good story, your commute will fly by - not to mention you'll look forward to your next drive so you can continue the story!

Listen to your favorite music and sing along. Did you know that singing loudly and intensely is actually considered an aerobic exercise? It is! So turn up your music and sing along to your favorite songs - you'll feel less stressed and ready to take on the world.

Make your drive a social one. If you live near co-workers, or your friends work near you, ask them if they'd like to ride together! Not only will this help reduce the amount of times you fill up, it will also give you someone to talk and laugh with during the commute.

Prepare the night before. If you pick out your clothes, make your lunch, set the timer on your coffee machine, and have everything ready to go the night before, you won't feel stressed in the morning! Being able to start your day with everything ready and waiting is a great feeling, which means you won't feel as stressed during the commute or left feeling like you forgot something.

Leave early. It can be extremely stressful to be on the way to work when unexpected construction or an accident puts you behind schedule. By leaving a couple minutes early, you'll feel more in control of your morning and less concerned about how late you're going to be to work. Not to mention, arriving at work a couple minutes early will only give you bonus points with the boss!

While these 5 steps to a relaxing commute should help, having a reliable and comfortable vehicle is the best way to enjoy your ride to work. At Graff Bay City, we have a huge selection of New Chevrolet Cars, New Chevrolet Trucks and Used Cars For Sale - all of which make the drive an enjoyable one! Chevy C7 Corvette Might Become a Hybrid Sports Car

Chevy C7 Corvette Might Become Hybrid Sports Car
BAY CITY, Mich. - In a recent interview, GM President Mark Reuss let the world in on a secret - the Chevy C7 Corvette might become a hybrid sports car in the near future. With so many vehicles in the Chevy lineup becoming more efficient, the car company admits that it has been tossing around the idea of a more efficient and environmentally friendly Corvette.

Currently, the standard Stingray comes with a LT1 6.2-liter V8 engine that can produce about 450 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft of torque. The sports car goes from 0-60 mph in less than four seconds and is considered to be the most powerful standard model ever. It can also get about 30 mpg on the highway, making it surprisingly fuel efficient for a sports car with that much power.

The possibility that the Chevy C7 Corvette might become a hybrid sports car would mean that the Corvette would become quieter, more powerful, and be more fuel efficient. While it's currently just a thought, it certainly sparks a lot of debate about what this would mean for the vehicle that is considered to be one of the most iconic American cars of all time.

If you'd like to check out what other hybrid vehicles are currently on our lot, or take a look at the non-hybrid 2014 Chevy Corvette, stop by our Caro Area Chevy Dealer today! We have a great selection of New Chevrolet Cars and New Chevrolet Trucks - both hybrid and not. With such a variety of vehicles, you'll be sure to find something you love. So swing by today and let us help you into a vehicle you deserve!

7 Weekend Travel Tips

7 Weekend Travel Tips
BAY CITY, Mich. - One of the biggest holiday travel weekends is rapidly approaching, which means millions across the country will be in their cars and traveling to their vacation destination. No matter where you're traveling to, the cost of food, accommodations and more can add up very quickly. That's why we've gathered 7 weekend travel tips to help you save a few bucks.

1.  To avoid wasting gas on the highway, travel on off-peak days or at odd hours! The busiest travel days this holiday are expected to be on Friday and Monday, around 5-7 p.m. By traveling at off-peak hours or on less busy days, your vehicle will be more fuel efficient because you will be avoiding all the stop and go - not to mention, you remove the risk of getting in an accident due to the high volume of drivers on the road.

2. Another way to avoid wasting gas is to consider renting a car locally. If your vehicle is a gas guzzler, it might be worth it to rent a car with better gas mileage. The money you save on gas might be more than the rental cost.

3. If you're traveling to the beach, stay a few miles away. Hotels right on the sand are going to be more expensive whereas you might be able to find a better deal down the road. That way you're still near the beach, but you're saving a few pennies.

4. Speaking of expensive hotels, avoid places right off the highway or interstate. That will be the first place that many travelers stop since it's so conveniently placed. If you travel down the road a few miles, you'll be able to find a better deal with more rooms available.

5. Eating out can be a delicious treat, but an expensive one. If you pack food to take with you - even if it's just chips, pretzels, or other snack foods - you'll save money. Not to mention, you'll be thankful you packed something for your kids to munch on.

6.  If you are staying in a tent or a cabin, it's even easier to avoid eating out. Pack hot dogs or hamburgers and roast them over a campfire with friends and family! This gives everyone the chance to come together and enjoy each other's company at a fraction of the cost of eating out.

7.  The biggest travel tip that we can offer to help you save money is to stay local. If you want a change of scenery but have to stay on a budget, we recommend checking out a local campsite or visiting a town nearby that you've never been to! This helps you save on gas, accommodations, and bonus: you could always run home if you forgot something!

We hope these 7 weekend travel tips will help you save a few dollars this holiday weekend. We can also help you save a few bucks on a New Chevrolet Car or New Chevrolet Truck at our Caro Area Chevrolet Dealer! Our friendly and courteous sales team is ready to help you save as much money as possible with Rebates and Employee Pricing. So stop by and see us today! GM Will Offer Smartphone Wireless Charging in 2014 Cars

GM Will Offer Smartphone Wireless Charging in 2014 Cars
BAY CITY, Mich. - With the amount of technology that drivers carry around with them, and the systems available in cars, it can seem like your car is packed with wires. That's why GM will now offer Smartphone wireless charging in 2014 cars. Designed with your comfort in mind, these wireless charging stations will help reduce the clutter inside your Chevy vehicle.

Instead of using the cables and plugs required to charge your Smartphone, some 2014 Chevy vehicles will now come with a Powermat surface - the 2014 Chevy Volt being one of them. This surface draws electricity, allowing you to place your Smartphone on the mat to charge it. GM will be the first carmaker to build the technology into its vehicles.

In order for the phone to work with the Powermat surface, it must be capable of recharging. This capability comes from either built-in technology, or the use of a case that will allow it to recharge. As Powermat surfaces become more popular, more phones will be released that are recharging compatible.

GM will offer Smartphone wireless charging in 2014 cars, but only a select few. If you'd like to discuss which vehicles come with this technology, or how you can have it installed in your current vehicle, stop by our Caro Area Chevrolet Dealer today! We have a large selection of New Chevrolet Cars and New Chevrolet Trucks - all with great technology that we know you'll love.

2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 First Pickup Ever to Receive Highest Possible Safety Rating

2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 First Pickup Ever to Receive Highest Possible Safety Rating
BAY CITY, Mich. - GM has just announced that the 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the first pickup truck ever to receive the highest possible safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The highest possible safety rating is a five-star Overall Vehicle Score, and is highly sought after by car brands.

NHTSA tested the crew cab model of the Silverado - a vehicle that accounts for 60 percent of Chevy's 2014 light duty full-size pickup truck sales. Numerous safety features earned the 2014 Silverado the highest possible safety rating, such as:

  • Safety Alert Seat which alerts the driver to potential traffic danger
  • Lane Departure Warning which signals the driver when they drift into another lane without using their blinker
  • Forward Collision Alert which alerts the driver when the truck is approaching another vehicle too quickly
  • Six standard air bags and 360-degree sensor system
These are only a few of the great safety features offered, all of which has made the 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 the first pickup ever to receive the highest possible safety rating! As for how the vehicle performs, it has an EcoTec3 5.3L V-8 engine that gets around 23 mpg on the highway and produces 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque.
