Chevrolet Auctions Off Two Corvettes for Charity to Benefit Veterans

BAY CITY, Mich. –– GM and Chevrolet both have a long and proud history of supporting our active military members, veterans, and their families. GM currently has more than 6,000 veterans in their employment and has over 50,000 retired employees who are veterans. Both auto brands are determined to help out those who have served our country faithfully in any what that they can. Most recently, GM and Chevrolet auctioned off two  Corvette models to raise money for charitable organizations that benefit and provide support for our veterans.

The two vehicles included a Corvette Carbon 65 Edition coupe signed by President George W. Bush and a 2019 Corvette ZR1. The two Corvettes drew a combined $2.325 million in charitable donations for the Bush Center’s Military Service Initiative and Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation respectively. These organizations both provide services and support for veterans and their families. Specifically, the Bush Center’s Military Service Initiative works to help post-9/11 veterans and their families make successful transitions to civilian life, gain meaningful employment, and overcome the psychological toll of experiencing combat. The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, through their Building for America’s Bravest program, provides mortgage-free smart homes designed to accommodate the needs of severely wounded veterans.

While the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the fastest, most powerful production Corvette ever with 755-horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque.

“GM and Chevrolet are proud to honor and support the brave men and women of our armed forces,” said Steve Hill, GM vice president of U.S. Sales and Service. “Thanks to the generosity of two of our dealers, John Staluppi and Rick Hendrick, we will be able to offer additional support to some of our most severely wounded veterans through the Bush Center Military Service Initiative and the Siller Foundation Building for America’s Bravest effort – both extremely worthy organizations.”

To continue their support of our military veterans, GM and Chevrolet have auctioned off two Corvettes to raise money for the Bush Center Military Service Initiative and the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
